Clam Jam
“Clam Jam”
Definition the female equivalent of a cock block.
Example You’re chatting with a guy you’re interested in and your friend comes along and lays claim to him.
Maggie
That’s my life—except it’s worse. My friend who keeps “jamming” me is my gay roommate and if that isn’t a W.T.F. moment, I’m not sure what is.
Fact He went home with three—yes, three—of the guys I had been so sure were into me.
Fact He’s really pissing me off. I mean, hello? I’m trying to get back in the saddle, but I’ll never manage to get a boyfriend before the age of fifty if he keeps this up.
Fact Secretly, I wonder what it would be like if he weren’t gay. Why do all the hot, sweet, tender-hearted guys have to be gay?
Fact My gay-dar needs a serious tune-up.
Ry
The day I interviewed for the room to rent, everything changed. I knew I had met “the girl”, except there was one small problem she didn’t want anything to do with men. I recognized a top-notch force field when I saw one. She’d been burned badly and didn’t want to deal with a heterosexual guy as a roommate. I could’ve turned around and found another place to live, but I wanted to live there—with her.
So I had to go “undercover”.
Fact I’m in love with my roommate.
Fact I’m a likely candidate for carpal tunnel surgery since all the action I’ve had for the past year has been my hand.
Fact She’s going to hate me if I come clean now.
Fact I’m not giving up. Which means, I’ll just have to continue to run defense until I figure out a way to get Maggie to see the “real” me.
The me that loves her.
The me that would never do her wrong.
Until then, I’ll keep running off every guy who shows any interest.
Until then, I’ll continue to Clam Jam.
Praise for CLAM JAM

I got this thing about funny book titles. I like to read them, to see if they can live up to the challenge that quirky uniqueness offers. I read the blurb for Clam Jam and so far, it seems like it will. Therefore, I settled in for a read. But first, a quick rundown of what the title means.Clam Jam Definition: the female equivalent of a cock block.
Let me start with I really did like the book. It was funny, cute and sweet. Our many players here are Maggie and Ry. You cannot help but like these two from the get go. Maggie is so sweet and Ry, yeah he’s a keeper, too. The situations they find themselves in, or shall I say the Clam Jamming Ry pulls on Mags is downright comical. You can help but laugh with all his shenanigans. He’s pining away for her trying to let her get to know him without all the pressure and she’s all crazy for him despite her knowing he is gay. Both are self-loving themselves until an oopsie moment that doesn’t seem to want to be stuffed back in the box. After that, all bets are off and things just get even more comical until the cat is let out of the bag.
Yes, lots of laughs, loves and likes to be had. So what’s my problem? OMG! How was it that everybody else around them figured out what his plan was, on top of the fact he wasn’t gay, and Maggie is still completely oblivious! The story plays out over about a year’s time, you would have thought she would have gotten a clue. Argh! And Ry, dude you should have manned up earlier and told her the TRUTH. Instead, you drag it on for so long so of course it was going to blow up in your face. And there in lays the problem for me. All this, her cluelessness, his clam jamming her, just was dragged out too long. Okay, rant over.
Despite my little rant, I did enjoy Clam Jam. Laughter, love and the right temperature of heat made this book by R.C. Boldt a fun read for my last book of the year. Definitely worth recommending for lovers of Chick Lit romances.

CLAM JAM edition by RC Boldt Romance eBooks Reviews
I did laugh out loud a few times, and there was a bit of a good steam factor. Other than that this book was very superficial, the guy was a total stalker, and there was too much repetition regarding how the characters felt internally.
I first heard the title of this one and I was like okay, this should be interesting! I'm a fan of a cheeky title haha so I picked it up. . . From the very beginning I loved Maggie. . . I see her like a modern day Carrie Bradshaw (right down to the shoe reference when her world is rocked on the first page haha) she is hilarious and relatable right off the bat and you know the story that follows is gonna be one heck of a ride. . . So since its a snow day at my house I lock in for a binge read of epic proportions!
Maggie's way of having this internal monologue of describing what she is thinking made me definitely draw the Sex and The City references, some people aren't a fan of this writing method but if its done well (which in this book its like a master class on how to do it right!) It makes for an interesting story element. . . Let's face it we all know we think things and not say them (me, maybe not as much as others but meh people tell me I have no filter and i'm fine with that) but to see the thought process of a character that is as quirky and unapologetically original as Maggie is amazing.
Ryland (Ry) is equally as adorable as Maggie and I was rooting for him thr entire book, I mean he seriously went to bat and committed to this ruse just to get to know the woman he had a inkling could change his life. It was pretty adorable! Now he had his moments to where you want to scream at him Ry! Stop being such a guy! Haha but he totally sees the light.
I thought this was a solid rom-com and perfect for fans of Big Rock By Lauren Blakely or Wasted Words By Staci Hart.
I do believe this author has a talent for writing a romantic comedy, but the premise of the story - guy who is infatuated with a gal who has mentally put herself off the dating market, ergo he pretends to be gay so she'll accept him as a roommate - it felt shaky to begin with. And then as they continued to have increasing sexual encounters with each other, yet still live together and practically hang out all the time, but no confession by the guy? It became more and more eye rolling/unbelievable. The reason for the guy attempting and sustaining this charade needed to be more compelling than simply he wanted to get to her better. The story should have been correctly wrapped up to conclusion after the first sexual encounter, but instead it keeps getting prolonged with the same - he blocks her potential dates and she is totally clueless as to how this happens. I think this would have made an excellent short story, but not stretched out to a book length.
Is it possible to have too much sex in one book? In this kind of book, yeah. It just went on and on and on in great detail. If the author put that much detail in flushing out her characters and plot I may have liked this book better. But they were juvenile, and the plot got tedious and unrealistic really fast. I mean, really, how many times does she need to have her date "stolen" for her to get a clue. ..or at least confront the issue? !
